Growth Group Guide

  1. Tell us about someone famous you’ve met in the past. Or tell us about someone famous you’d like to meet.
  2. Read vv. 1-5. What is Jesus praying for in this section? Describe His heart or love for His glory and for His disciples.
  3. Note the distinction Jesus makes between His disciples and ‘the world’ in verse 9. Then read vv. 16-19. How have you experienced the struggle of following Jesus while being pulled away from Him by ‘the world’? How has Jesus the true Sanctifier sanctified you in the past in the midst of these struggles? How can we as a group encourage one another in the midst of this struggle to follow Jesus?
  4. Read vv. 20-26. Who is God calling you to share this message (v. 20) individually? As a group, is there someone or a group that God is calling to share this message?
  5. From the previous week’s study, what counterfeit joys from the world pull you away from delighting in Jesus? How can we encourage you to delight in Him this week? How can you encourage someone in your group to follow Jesus?

Lenten Family Devotional

Walk through Holy Week using these daily videos reflecting on Jesus's final days.

READ the following and MEMORIZE:

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him." For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:14-18)

SING the Doxology

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen.
