Announcements

🍁 In order to give our youth coworkers a break after our youth Fall Retreat, there will be no Youth Friday Night Bible Study (FNBS) on Friday, October 17.

📜 The By-Laws were last revisited in 2013. As part of good governance, the Elder Board did another review of the By-Laws and are proposing some changes to the congregation. Any change requires 2/3 majority approval at a congregational meeting, except for any change to the Statement of Faith (of which we are proposing one, Section 2.09), which requires a 90% majority approval. Learn more about these revisions and the rationale here.

⛪️ The Elder Board will host a question-and-answer session on October 19, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This event will be held in the sanctuary of the main campus. Please submit questions by email to elders@indychinesechurch.org. Questions must be submitted by email and need to be sent by October 12, the week prior to the Q & A session. The purpose of the event is to continue to improve communication throughout our church and to help prepare for our annual church meeting which will be on October 26.

Growth Group Guide

  1. Do you remember any words that were spoken to you as a child?
  2. Read Deuteronomy 5:1-20. If humans lost the ability to lie, how would your world change? How would you change?
  3. We ought not use our words to tear others down, but rather defend others. Which do you find more challenging? Why?
  4. Read Matthew 12:34. How do our words reveal our heart? What do your words reveal?
  5. How is the devil in John 8:44 different than God in Titus 1:2?
  6. Read 1 Peter 2:22-25. How is Christ the Example, Emancipator, and Enabler as it pertains to the ninth commandment?
  7. Prior to the sermon, how would you have rated your obedience to this commandment? Why? Did your rating change after the sermon? Why or why not?
