Growth Group Guide
- Describe your first experience with anxiety. What happened? How did you respond?
- Slowly read Philippians 4:4-9. Why do you think Paul writes this to the Philippians? How would you respond to the comment, "Christians shouldn't struggle with anxiety."?
- What exhortations does Paul give in this text? What truths does Paul share?
- Paul emphasizes the presence of the Lord throughout this section. Why? That is, how does the presence of the Lord help one face anxiety? (Consider the following passages as needed: Deuteronomy 31:6; Joshua 1:9; Psalm 23:4; Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 28:18-20. Further, consider the transformation in Peter after he receives the Holy Spirit.)
- How much is anxiety an issue for you today? How do you typically handle anxiety?
- How might dwelling on and applying Philippians 4:4-9 help?
- What can you do as a growth group to encourage and aid each other in fighting anxiety?
