Soils – Luke 8 – Rev. Justin Young

Main Idea: Hear and heed God’s Word.

Luke 8

  • Seed (v. 11)
  • Path (v. 12)
  • Rocky Ground (v. 13)
  • Thorns (v. 14)
  • Good Soil (v. 15)

Significance

  • Hearing alone will not suffice.
  • Maturity requires time as its price.

Growth Group Guide

  1. Would you like to garden? Why or why not?
  2. Read Luke 8:4-15, and then describe each of the soils. With which of the soils do you most closely identify? Why?
  3. Some who have grown up in church have heard so much that they are seemingly inoculated to real faith. How can this be? Does this describe you? Why or why not?
  4. Which do you think is easier: getting accepted at an Ivy League or faithfully following Jesus? Why?
  5. What would it look like if you followed Jesus step-by-step throughout the course of a typical day?
