Tabernacle - Exodus 25-26

October 31, 2021

Main Idea: God dwells with his people.

Looking Back: Eden

God dwells with his people ...

  • ... as King (Exodus 25:10-22)

  • ... as Host (Exodus 25:23-30)

  • ... as Guide (Exodus 25:31-40; Psalm 119:105)

Will we welcome God as King, Host, and Guide?

Looking Forward: Jesus

Icebreaker

Describe your ideal house.

Digging Deeper

  1. What is the link between the Eden in Genesis and the tabernacle in Exodus?

    • Genesis 2:12 and Exodus 25:3-7
    • Genesis 2:9 and Exodus 25:31-39
    • Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 14, 20, 24, 26 and Exodus 25:1; 30:11, 17, 22, 34; 31:1, 12
    • Genesis 2:1-3 and Exodus 31:12-17
    • Genesis 3:8 and Exodus 25:8
  2. Why do you think there is such a link between Eden and the tabernacle?

  3. Pick one of the following. Read the text and then discuss what aspect of God that piece of furniture reflects.

    • The ark (Exodus 25:10-22) (Note: the ark has the same proportions as the footstool of an ancient king.)
    • The table (Exodus 25:23-30)
    • The lampstand (Exodus 25:31-40; cf. Psalm 119:105)
  4. What are different ways people reject God as king, host, or guide? How you reject him in those roles?
