August 25--Seeing God in Academics, Part 2
Seeing God in Academics
As you may know, I am pursuing a master's degree in Children's and Family Ministry. This quarter I am taking a class called "Church History Survey". As I have studied about the past 2000 years of Christianity, I am amazed at how much Christianity has influenced and been influenced by cultural developments around the world. The person of Jesus Christ has arguably made a stronger impact on the history of the world than anyone else, and that impact continues today. As your children study the history of different people groups, it would be great to ask questions like, "How did the Christian faith (or a reaction to it) influence this culture?" or "What religion did these people follow, and how does that religion compare to Christianity?"
Last Week (August 22)
Sunday Theme The children studied 1 Samuel 25, where Abigail makes peace with David. As Romans 12:17-18 reminds us, God wants us to solve conflict peaceably. This Week (August 29)
