Two Definitions of "Promotion"

Hello Parents and Coworkers, As you know, the Sunday School Promotion Ceremony will be this Sunday afternoon at 2:00. This will be the time when the children officially graduate to the next grade. However, I recently had a conversation with someone who assumed I was using the phrase "Sunday School Promotion" to mean "advertising the Sunday School program". I quickly corrected him to explain that I meant the other definition. However, as I thought about it more, a ceremony like this is sort of like advertising. I hope that the families at our church see the incredible value that the Sunday School ministry holds for influencing the faith of the next generation.

Sunday Theme Although Paul and Silas were put in prison for doing ministry, they did not stop praising God! Check out Acts 16 to see the two miracles that happened--in the jail and in the jailer. Promotion Rehearsal Thank you for your flexibility in letting your children rehearse for the ceremony!

This Week (May 23)

Sunday Theme Out of the three members of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is probably least discussed or understood by Christians. However, in Romans 8:9-17, Paul discusses living by God's spirit. I would encourage you to read this passage as a family before coming to church this Sunday. Promotion Ceremony Here's a glimpse of what to expect at the ceremony, which begins at 2:00 in the Sanctuary:

• A memory slideshow of the 2009-2010 ministry year
• A special word from Pastor Yang
• Music presentations from each age group
• Recognition of all children and coworkers
• Important information regarding the upcoming Sunday School year
• A chance to buy discounted Hands-On Bibles and other great resources
• Refreshments after the ceremony
