Hello Parents and Coworkers,

Each week I try to tell you what lessons the children learned the previous week and what they will learn in the upcoming week. Since recently began the new ministry year for Sunday School, I want to give you the big picture preview of the lessons for the upcoming 12 months. I hope it is helpful for parents in reinforcing the lessons at home.

  • June: Judges and Ruth
  • July-August: 1 Samuel
  • September: 2 Samuel
  • October-November: 1 Kings (and a little 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles)

Hello Parents and Coworkers,

Last Sunday we ended the 2009-2010 Sunday School year, and this Sunday we will begin a new one. I pray that our children are continuing to grow spiritually as they grow physically. I am encouraged by the parents that I see who are intentional in developing their children's faith at home.

Last Week (May 23)

Sunday Theme The elementary children learned about living by God's Spirit (Romans 8), while the primary children learned about the fruit of the Spirit, specifically love (Gal. 5:22-23)

Hello Parents and Coworkers,

Since we celebrated Father's Day last Sunday, I'd like to share a thought that I heard from Dennis Rainey of Family Life. The title is: "Wasting Time With Your Kids":

The statesman Charles Francis Adams underestimated the importance of a fishing trip he took with his son. Historians have found an entry in his diary that read. "Went fishing with my son today - a day wasted."

The Perfect Date

Hello Parents and Coworkers,

In a well-known movie, a beauty pageant contestant was asked to, "Describe your perfect date" (meaning a romantic date). She responded: "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April the 25th. It' not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket". I hope that your family is taking advantage of the nice weather to spend time as a family outdoors. Remember to check out Holland Park in Fishers!

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Hello Parents and Coworkers,

Many Mexican families are celebrating today (Cinco de Mayo) as a cultural holiday. I find it helpful to occasionally remember the unique aspects to different people groups. This helps me remember that we come from different backgrounds and have been shaped by different influences. Recognizing this is an important step in connecting with people from different cultures.

Hello Parents and Coworkers,

Your family may be in the process of spring cleaning around now. If so, I wanted to mention that we could use a few items for the children's ministry. Please let me know if you want to donate one of these or something else:

  • A baby changing table for the upstairs women's restroom
  • Game equipment (jump ropes, balls, etc.)
  • Art supplies (cotton balls, popsicle sticks, crayons, etc.)
  • The cardboard centers of paper towel rolls
